The title of this post is so appropriate and hilarious at the same time. It is a reflection of my up and down journey with this game.
I do not know why but something inside of me keeps nudging me back to golf and so here I am again 😂.
Life brings many ups and downs with it which we sometimes cannot avoid. I am learning how to create a consistent level of pleasantness within me so that regardless of what happens around me, I still can feel stable and centred. This is something I have not paid attention to when I was younger but I am grateful that at least now I am aware of the weakness in this area and am working towards making changes.
So after more than 2 years with a whole load of things happening in my life (career, relationships, personal growth, business ventures, emotional roller coaster rides), today I returned to the driving range.
Being there on my own and trying to organically figure out my swing after hitting each ball, it gave me a sense of peace and calm. It was very cold and cloudy but I managed to stay warm by constantly hitting ball after ball – 100 to be exact. I also developed a blister on my right index finger – just like the good ‘ol days hehehe.
I recently finished reading a book by John Richardson titled ‘Dream On’ about the journey of one golfer who decided to dedicate one year of his life to play a sub par round of golf, which he did. The character was the same age as me and allowed me to connect with his story from the beginning.
If John Richardson can break par in one year with not much golfing prior to this, and with having a family and running his own business, would I be able to reduce my handicap to scratch within a year? It got me thinking again.
To be honest, the purpose of this blog has always been to document my journey to scratch golf. Back then I used to be off 16 or 17. However now I dont even have a handicap. Would it be possible to reach this goal and how long would it take? I do not know. Should I give it a go? 😊 Hmmmm..
Venue: Kingston Links Driving Range,
Practice: 100 balls – pitching wedge, 7 iron, 6 iron and 3 iron
Outcome: Its amazing how i managed to get my general rhythm of the swing back after 100 balls … and a blister. I am very appreciative for this 😊
Until the next post, love and light to each of us on planet earth 😊 … check out the photos below …
