Tiger Woods series (4 of 9) ~31~

This is part 4 of a 9 part series based on Tiger Woods’ long game taken from an article in the February 1998 issue of Australian Golf Digest.

The image below shows Tiger’s position after impact and on the way to the follow through. His right forearm goes over left. He is hitting a right-to-left draw on this particular shot. For that ball flight, Tiger tries to let his right forearm pass over his left. That is a sign of rotation – of moving the clubface to a square or slightly closed position.

Butch Harmon who was Tiger’s coach at the time of writing the article in 1998, suggests trying to shake hands with the target. He states that Tiger’s finish is a mirror image of his takeaway in that it is very wide. Full extension here is a sign of speed and power through impact. As for Tiger allowing his right forearm to pass over his left to his a draw, Butch says ‘shake hands with the target’.

Part 5 soon to follow …
