Putting on Track ~23~

This article states that the two main elements of good putting are accurate distance and direction with the best putts containing both. However, it is also good to focus on just one of those two elements.

With longer putts, the goal is to get the distance right so that the second shot is a sure make. On shorter putts, the focus is on direction and accuracy.

The distance and direction ratio is made more complicated by the sloping greens. One good technique is to visualise a set of railroad tracks from the ball to the hole. Just start the ball on the track with the right speed and it should follow on and reach the hole. An image of the article is attached below.
