The Lady Pros ~14~

The next three posts will be based on this initial article taken from the February 1998 issue of Australian Golf Digest.

Back when I was in high school and at university, the leading players on the women’s tours included these three ladies: American Michelle McGann, Australian Karrie Webb and Swede Annika Sorenstam. They played mainly on the Ladies Professional Golf Association Tour (LPGA Tour) that was predominantly based on playing courses throughout the United States. Since then, and with the acceptance of more players from other parts of the world including South Korea, there are more tournaments being held outside of the United States.

The LPGA have a comprehensive website providing information in relation to the players, the stats, the tournaments, and qualifying for the tour. In addition to the LPGA. there are other women’s golfing tours such as the Ladies European Tour (LET) (http://www.ladieseuropeantour.com/), the Japanese LPGA Tour (http://www.lpga.or.jp/) and the Ladies Asian Golf tour (http://www.lagt.org).

There was a point in my golfing career where I wanted to play on the LPGA tour and I used to read up about the players and about the tournaments. Perhaps some day I might be able to give it a go? 😉

The women players of today are technically more sound and physically more fit than any generation of golfers which always makes for exciting golfing.

Never say never!
