Today’s article is taken from September 1998 issue of Australian Golf Digest.
This is an interesting point that is raised in places / clubs where stopping for a break after 9 holes is the norm.
I know for a fact that in countries like Singapore and Malaysia it is more common to stop half way and have a proper meal. It is less in places like Australia – but I guess it still happens in the country clubs.
This article states that you might be playing well in the front nine and when you stop for lunch, it could potentially cause you to lose your momentum, rhythm and your score on the back nine goes up.
Two recommendations if you do stop for lunch is:
- After eating, and back on the 10th tee, focus your mind on the last good swing you made and remember the feeling of that shot.
- On the tee, stretch your muscles as if you were preparing to hit the opening tee shot of your round and get warmed up again after your lunch break
Happy golfing!
